Oestara

Oestara, Eostar, the Spring Equinox
|

Eostar, or Ostara is an Anglo-Saxon Dawn Goddess who is symbolized with an egg and a hare. She is
also the European version of the Goddess Ishtar or Astarte, who was worshipped thousands of yearsago,
she certainly is pre-Christian. This is the time when the land is truly awakened, , the trees have leaves,
the flowers in bloom, and the corn shooting up.
|

It is the Spring Equinox when the day is in balance with the night, they are equal. The date of this
festival, like Yule, varies from year to year, yet is widley celbrated on March 21.Oestara is a tiae
when we seek balence in our life, we throw out the old and bring in the new.We rid ourselves of things
no longer needed- old habits, thoughts and feelings. You should seek balance through which you can accept
yourself better.

There are many battles of whether or not Spring cleaning has anything to do with Ostara, but it certainly
means casting out the old and bringing in the new.The increasing daylight might encourage you to clean
around the home thoroughly.
